Stella made her entrance into the world on Dec. 30, 2012 at 1:28 PM. Here is her story: After months of being nervous that she'd come on Christmas, Stella was a good little girl and waited until after Christmas to be born.
We decided to induce her on the December 30th. Nick and I left the house at 7:15 am to be there for our 7:30 induction. It was weird going in for the induction since I knew what was awaiting me. My nerves were going crazy! We checked in to the hospital and they immediately took us back to the birthing room.
My Dr. was already at the hospital and said she would check on me and then make a plan from there. I had been super uncomfortable the last couple of weeks and when she checked me she said no wonder I was already at a 5!
Dr. Ivie then broke my water to see what would happen. Nothing happened.
After about an hour I got my epidural anyway and when I was at a six, they started me on a Pictocin drip. The machine that my Pictocin drip was on kept on beeping. My nurse was really nice, but this was one of her first shifts at Spring Valley (she was usually at UMC) so she kept trying to figure out why the alarm was going off. After 2 hours of no contractions and the machine constantly beeping, they brought in another nurse and it turned out they had the IV hooked up wrong and I wasn't getting any Pictocin.
Once that was fixed I went from a 6 to a 10 in one hour. Five minutes of pushing later, Stella popped right out! It was the calmest and easiest labor I ever had! She was a healthy 7 lbs 3 oz. and 19 inches long.
We are so happy that she is here! She wasn't the happiest baby when she came out, and had a little scowl on her face, but she has since been much happier and we are loving that she is part of our family. The girls are LOVING her. Reagan can't hold her enough and Alice loves to give her kisses if she is awake, sleeping, or crying! And if you were wondering, she is named after 2 of her great grandmothers!
